A Historic Milestone for the Collaboration between the Medical University of Vienna and Semmelweis University

On Friday, 28 August 2026, the graduation ceremony for the first graduates of the joint MSc program of the Medical University of Vienna and Semmelweis University took place. This special occasion marks an important milestone in the academic and scientific collaboration between Vienna and Budapest.

The connection between the two cities has a long-standing medical tradition. More than 150 years ago, Ignaz Semmelweis shaped the history of medicine in Vienna and Budapest through his clinical work and groundbreaking discoveries. Today, this historic connection is being carried forward by a new generation of physicians and scientists. The successful graduation of the first students from the joint MSc program represents a forward-looking partnership in medical education, research, and science.
