Adrenal Cancer – Adrenocortical Carcinoma

Adrenocortical carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor of the adrenal glands.

The adrenal glands are two small, triangular-shaped glands located above your kidneys.
They produce hormones that are essential for the functioning of nearly all organs and tissues in your body.

Adrenal cancer is typically very aggressive.
If detected early, the chances of a cure are relatively good. However, if the tumor has already metastasized beyond the adrenal glands, a complete cure is less likely. Appropriate treatment can help slow the progression of the disease or delay its recurrence.

Benign, non-cancerous tumors—such as adenomas or pheochromocytomas—can also develop in the adrenal glands.
