Urology Biobank

Goals

Our biobank in the field of urology aims to sustainably support research into urological diseases.
By collecting and providing high-quality biological samples and clinical data, we create a valuable foundation for the development of new insights and therapeutic options. Our vision is a future in which personalized medicine can support urology patients even more precisely and effectively.

Who We Are

Our biobank is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Departments of Urology, Pathology, and Laboratory Medicine. Together, we are committed to advancing scientific knowledge and supporting clinical research. By combining our expertise across disciplines, we strive to provide researchers with high-quality samples and data that contribute to improving patient care.

Information for Patients

Our biobank collects valuable samples that help researchers better understand urological diseases and develop new treatment options. Samples are collected during medical procedures or routine examinations and may include tissue obtained from surgery, as well as blood and urine samples from routine tests. In addition, anonymized data on the disease and received treatments is recorded.
Your voluntary consent is essential to us:
We can only use your biological samples for scientific purposes with your explicit permission.

Information for Researchers

Our biobank provides an extensive collection of tissue and fluid samples for scientific research projects.
Samples are collected depending on the entity and at defined time points. Our collection includes samples from patients with localized or metastatic urothelial carcinoma of the bladder and upper urinary tract, renal cell carcinoma, and prostate cancer.

Sampling time points are precisely defined, such as before and after surgical tumor removal, before and during intravesical or systemic therapy, and during follow-up.

Available sample volumes:

  • EDTA plasma: 5 aliquots of 400 µL each

  • Serum: 5 aliquots of 400 µL each

  • Whole blood: 3 mL

  • ctDNA: For selected indications, 8.5 mL collected in Roche cfDNA tubes

  • Urine: 6 aliquots of 2 mL each
