About us
StrikeBC is a national Austrian collaborative initiative, funded within the LBG Clinical Research Groups (KFG). Our goal is to sustainably improve care and research in muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) – through innovative clinical trials, high-quality translational research, modern data integration and a structured, Austria-wide research and training platform.
StrikeBC brings together leading experts from urology, oncology, pathology, radiology, molecular biology, data science and health economics at several university hospitals and research institutes across Austria. Together, we develop and evaluate new diagnostic, biomarker and therapy strategies, including modern clinical trials such as TWiCs designs, multimodal biomarker development and patient-centered decision-making.
A central component of StrikeBC is the focus on patient orientation. Patient representatives are actively involved in decision-making processes – from study planning to the development of core outcome sets and quality of life assessment.
Together we are working to,
- make clinical trials more efficient, modern and patient-focused,
- better connect translational research with clinical practice,
- implement modern data-driven methods and models,
- and train the next generation of researchers through targeted training and education modules.
Our Mission: Through excellent research, modern data infrastructure and interdisciplinary collaboration, we want to create new, more effective and patient-centered approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer – for a better future for those affected throughout Austria.
