The research laboratory for experimental and translational urology is positioned at the interface between basic science and clinical practice. Our lab is part of the **Department of Urology at
Our scientific objective is the in-depth investigation of molecular driver mechanisms and novel therapeutic targets in uro-oncological diseases, with the goal of enabling improved diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
We focus on:
-
analyzing molecular mechanisms involved in the development and progression of bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers,
-
establishing patient-oriented, preclinical models,
-
defining prognostic and predictive biomarkers,
-
conducting preclinical research on new therapeutic approaches,
-
developing targeted therapies with minimal side effects.
Thanks to our long-standing collaboration with the Clinical Institute of Pathology at the Medical University of Vienna, we have access to a wide range of patient material.
Together with our research partners—including the Comprehensive Cancer Center of MedUni Vienna and the Center for Molecular Medicine (CeMM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences—we are working to establish clinically relevant, preclinical models to explore novel treatment strategies.
Since 2022, we have also operated a biobank as a foundation for molecular and oncological research projects.
