Stone Center at the Department of Urology
Urinary stone disease (urolithiasis) has been a major focus within the broad therapeutic spectrum of urological conditions at the Department of Urology, Medical University of Vienna and Vienna General Hospital (AKH Wien) for several years.
We offer all modern imaging techniques for the diagnosis of urolithiasis, including low-dose CT with 3D reconstruction, MRI, and renal scintigraphy.
In addition, we have access to state-of-the-art treatment methods such as flexible ureterorenoscopy, minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolitholapaxy (Mini-PCNL), laser lithotripsy, and non-invasive shockwave therapy for treating stones in all locations of the urinary tract.
Our therapeutic approach not only focuses on the initial stone removal, but also on preventive measures. Through comprehensive evaluation of underlying causes, identification of individual risk factors, and tailored follow-up care by our experienced team, the recurrence rate of stone formation can be significantly reduced.
